BUILDING DENVER DATE NITE
I was working on a startup concept for families when joining the cofounding team of Denver Date Nite presented itself as an opportunity. It was a bit unexpected, but looking back I’m so grateful things worked out as they did.
Finding the right cofounder relationship is tricky and I wasn’t necessarily looking to join a team, but I was definitely feeling lonely as I tackled my own concept by myself. Building a company with someone absolutely had an appeal… and then I met Gretchen.
How I met Gretchen
As a fractional CMO for tech startups in Denver, I was currently working with another brand that partnered with Denver Date Nite on an event. I got to work with Gretchen on a holiday event and saw her event planning magic in action. We clicked right away but didn’t chat about partnering until much later. A few months passed and when I got their call I figured they just wanted to engage me as a growth consultant. Turns out there was a better fit.
Four Reasons Denver Date Nite Was the Perfect Fit For Me
There are four major reasons why joining the cofounding team at Denver Date Nite made so much sense for me.
I get it. I am a first-time-mom with another baby on the way. My husband and I are both entrepreneurs and startup executives, and life is BUSY. My marriage is a priority but it is so easy to focus on kids, especially when they are little. Date night is an incredible time to connect at this stage of life, but it is easy to get stuck in a rut when it comes to planning worthwhile time with my husband. Dinner and a movie wasn’t going to cut it. As soon as I heard about Denver Date Nite’s services, I booked a date, and now the bar for how we spend our time together is simply higher.
The timing was right. I am wrapping up my Executive MBA at DU (go Pios) and am so passionate about scaling businesses from scratch. Denver Date Nite matches my personal mission of building profitable businesses that make a positive impact on families. The timing couldn’t be better.
My cofounder is smart (and sassy) as shit and we execute well together. After consulting with a number of startups as a fractional CMO for the past five years, I’ve seen a range of teams and working styles. We immediately clicked. We’re fast, efficient and we respect each other. I know what my cofounder is good at and we each stay in our lanes until we need help. This makes it so much fun to work together.
Which brings me to my last reason for working on Denver Date Nite with Gretchen. Booking creative itineraries for our customers is fun. Directly impacting relationships is rewarding. I have never laughed so much at work, well, ever… and laughing constantly throughout my day makes it easy to work hard on our brand and service.
Don’t get me wrong. Not every day is perfect and we have already overcome some big challenges. That said, I really can’t imagine doing anything else at this point.
Onward & Upward
So what am I excited about at this stage?
We just launched our new website. (You’re reading this blog so I’m assuming you’ve checked it out. We’d love to know what you think!)
We’re formally launching our new brand, Adelska Date Night, on June 13th. You’re invited.
We begin raising our seed round of funding very soon.
Then I get to do what I love: focus on our customers and make sure they have the best date night experiences ever.
