Loaded fries. A PBR tallboy. Donkey Kong.

Flashback to your frat boy days, or have you just stumbled upon the greatest date night idea ever?

Game bars are not just pool and beer anymore, and fun options are sprouting up all over Denver. Break out of your date night monotony with an enjoyable night of great food, good drinks and some playful competition. Schedule a "playdate" with your partner at one of these exciting Denver hotspots:

  • It's game on at 1Up's two Denver locations, in  LoDo (1925 Blake St.) and Capital Hill (717 E. Colfax Ave.) The arcade bars offer a huge array of classic arcade games (choice of 90 on Colfax!), pinball machines and Skee-ball. It's a throwback to your glory days, with classic beers in vintage cans, 40 oz. malt liquor and a TouchTunes jukebox. Burgers, fries, wings, corn dogs. Sold!

  • Take a break from adulting and get to Board Game Republic (900 W 1st Ave Suite 130). $5.00 pp gets you unlimited access to an incredible selection of 750 board games, from nostalgic classics to trivia and "word nerd."  The perfect accompaniment to a game of Clue: the Lucky Leprechaun shake, featuring mint chocolate chip ice cream, Bailey's and yes… Lucky Charms! Menu features small plates, charcuterie, subs, flatbreads and bowls.

  • The game is ping-pong at Ace Eat Serve (501 E 17th Ave). The former warehouse retains a unique industrial vibe, with a Ping-Pong hall, huge outdoor patio and bar featuring upcycled warehouse palettes and salvaged airplane parts. The eclectic Asian menu includes bao buns, Tiger Wings and kimchi as well as house made sodas, fresh juices, Asian beers and craft cocktails. Happy Hour (4:00 to 6:00 p.m.) gets you your choice of ramen (Spice Market Beef; Duck, Duck, Ramen!; Tomato To Yum) and a drink for an easy $11.00 (4:00 to 6:00 p.m.). Ping-Pong $15/hour, $10 for Happy Hour.

  • At Punch Bowl Social (65 Broadway), share a "Lil' Fried Bologna and Cheese Sandwich" (mortadella, gruyere and olive tapenade) with your sweetie or dig into some serious Chicken and Waffles. Then seal the deal with a game of Skee-ball, bowling (six lanes), or bocce. There's something for everyone with a dart room, vintage arcade and karaoke. Craft beverages, grown-up milkshakes, limeades and kombucha.

  • The huge outdoor space at Viewhouse (2015 Market Street) provides plenty of lawn for giant beer pong, volleyball and cornhole. Chill in one of the courtside cabanas with a chocolate martini and chili fires ($7 and $3, respectively, during happy hour, weekdays 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.). Menu includes tacos, fish and chips, burgers and bowls.
